Many people suffer from chronic jaw pain, headaches and teeth grinding, unaware of the treatment options available. TMJ is a chronic pain condition that can worsen when left untreated, or can cause advanced damage to the teeth or gums. Holladay, UT dentist Dr. Val Ludlow, always at the forefront of dental technology, offers TruDenta technology for the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ.
WHAT IS TRUDENTA?
TruDenta is a five step system that diagnoses and treats the symptoms of TMJ pain.
- Bite Force Analysis
- Range of Motion Analysis
- Headache History Form
- Muscle Exam
- Head Health Questionnaire
Through a comprehensive exam and headache and head health questionnaire, Dr. Ludlow begins to build a picture of your history with TMJ and how it affects your life. Then, Dr. Ludlow will use Tscan technology to analyze the bite. Dr. Ludlow looks at alignment, force, and range of motion to better understand where your unique problem points are originating from.
Tscan is a non-invasive digital scanner that can analyze the bite and muscle function in the jaw and neck. These digital images allow Dr. Ludlow to build a picture of how your jaw aligns, how your teeth come into contact with each other, and the force that is being put on them.
Once Dr. Ludlow has thoroughly analyzed the jaw, bite, face, and neck, he will work with the patient to determine the appropriate treatment plan. Ultrasound, trigger point manipulation, and cold laser & microcurrent therapies are all available from the comfort of our Holladay Dental office. This three-pronged system is designed to relieve patients of the tension and soreness associated with TMJ. Other cosmetic or restorative dental treatments may also be recommended to correct the cause of the bite dysfunction.
If you suffer from jaw pain, soreness, teeth grinding, or constant fatigue or headaches, TruDenta technology may be able to offer relief. TMJ can begin to negatively impact your qualify of life.
